12 | Overdrive | February 2019 Frito-Lay company driver Dave Rowe was one of many truckers responding last fall to our call for pic- tures of ridealong pets dressed up for Halloween. Rowe's Welsh Pembroke Corgi, Bentley, and 15 other nalists received a free pet wash courtesy of Iowa 80. Bentley "has been with me and my wife since he was 9 weeks old," Rowe says. e pet joined an older Corgi, Ginger, now 14, in the household. "His aviator out t (pictured) and bi-plane I made for a Halloween party for Corgis." Bentley's had a ton of energy since he was a pup, "always get- ting into trouble" then, Rowe says, though his behavior generally has improved with time and direction toward outdoors rodents. His favorite activity, outside of posing as an aviator, is running "outside to chase squirrels, and when he can't go out, he likes to spend his time looking out the win- dow barking at them." As for Rowe, behind the wheel with a CDL for 13 years, he'd "love to take him in the truck when I do runs," but he's not permitted to. e annual Trucker Talent Search singing competition produced by Overdrive and Red Eye Radio is back for its sixth year. Featuring a grand prize of a professional studio recording session, the Trucker Talent Search is accepting video submissions through April 22. Truckers who love to sing should recorda video clip ofthemselves singing–even asimple smartphone recordingis acceptable – at home or in the cab of their truck. Live karaoke and loud bar videos do not allow the judges to clearly hear the voice and may result in automatic disqual- i cation. Judges requestminimal audio enhancement and that no pitch correction so ware be used. e three nalists will attend GATS in August and competelive for rst place.
