The Driver Development Program will give drivers three to six in-person devel- opment sessions, use driving simulators, feature more than 150 videos, allow new and veteran drivers hours of driving range practice and include training and practice on electronic logging devices and other systems. BY DEAN SMALLWOOD ACQUISITIONS Wheaton Van Lines acquired Stevens Worldwide Van Lines. Terms were not announced. This is Wheaton's third acquisition since 2012 when it acquired Bekins Van Lines and, a year later, Clark & Reid. The Stevens family will continue to own and operate three local agencies in Saginaw, Michigan, Toledo, Ohio, and Cleveland. FACILITIES Old Dominion Freight Line opened six new, relocated or remod- eled service centers in Mobile, Alabama, Pompano Beach, Florida, Texarkana, Arkansas, Otay Mesa and Anaheim, California, and Houston. The less-than-truckload car- rier is based in Thomasville, North Carolina. RECOGNITION The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance named Werner Enterprises driver Timothy Dean the winner of its 2019 International Driver Excellence Award, which recognizes drivers with exceptional careers and dedication to safety. Dean has driven for Omaha, Nebraska-based Werner for over 30 years and has more than four million accident-free miles. He has been a Werner's Road Team captain since 2005 and was appointed to the American Trucking Associations' America's Road Team in 2009. Dean also was grand champion in the 2011 and 2018 Nebraska Truck Driving Championships. U.S. Xpress designed its Driver Development Program with driver input.
