SPOTLIGHT SPRING TRUCK SHOW INTRODUCTIONS These products were among those announced at the Mid-America Trucking Show BY DEAN SMALLWOOD The XL 110 Mini-Deck Extendable has an auto-steering system designed to rotate the axles automatically. The Low-Profile HDG detaches and reattaches using a power unit or a wet kit. XL Specialized's two 110,000-pound-capacity trailers XL Specialized unveiled two trailers, both with an 110,000-pound capac- ity rating. The XL 110 Mini-Deck Extendable's main deck features a 14-inch loaded deck height with a 10-inch beam design and extends from 27 feet to 47 feet for a total 73-foot length. An auto-steering system is designed to rotate the axles automatically to keep the trailer behind the truck. The rotating kingpin prompts the axles to track with the truck using hydraulic cylinders, and a manual override allows drivers to take control when needed. The Low-Profile Hydraulic Detachable Gooseneck has a 15-inch loaded deck height and a 13-foot gooseneck with a swing clearance of 110 inches. The gooseneck's redesigned sloped nose helps protect the air and electrical connections from damage. The hydraulic neck detaches and reattaches using a power unit or a wet kit, and it has a five-position ride height. Based on neck position and load, the deck can be leveled as needed with an adjustable wheel-area ride height. The Highway Control S steer/all- position tire features an improved shoulder rib and tread design. Thermo King's upgraded all- electric APU Thermo King's upgraded all-electric TriPac Envidia auxiliary power unit is designed for drivers who generally do not take their 34-hour restarts on the road, as well as those who need to meet strict emis- sions regs. It gives 10 hours of runtime. The battery-based system features Thermo King's Smart Charger Modules that facilitate optimum charging, as well as battery isolation in the event one of the four batteries goes bad, so it doesn't affect the other three. The unit recharges from the alternator. The all-electric TriPac Envidia APU can be ordered with an optional heater, a 1,000-watt power inverter, solar panels and additional batteries.
