30 | Overdrive | January 2020 Buying a refrigerated trailer means con- sidering a lot more specifications than with a dry van or flatbed. There's duct de- sign, UV-resistant roofs and the type and density of foam insulation, to name a few. Also, transportation refrigeration unit manufacturers are introducing models with higher operating efficiencies and lower fuel consumption. Combined with trailer makers offering improved insu- lation and heat isolation on their reefer products, owners benefit from lower TRU operating costs. The following are standard or typical specifications for popular 53-foot refrig- erated trailers.
